The Hierarchy of a Motorcycle Club
A motorcycle club assumes a serious hierarchy in leadership just like any other organization, with both Officers and a Board of Directors (“BOD”) elected by the membership from time to time.
At the top of the Officers is the President who is the head of the Corporation and also a Director. The President and all other Officers serve two year terms.
The Vice President has the powers and performs the duties assigned him or her by the BOD, and steps in to fulfill the role of President in the event of absence of that top officer. The Vice President also sits as a Director on the BOD.
The Treasurer is in charge of the Club’s funds. He or she is also custodian of the Club’s current financial records. An assistant to the Treasurer may also be appointed, holding the title of Quartermaster, with responsibility for Club merchandise as directed by the President or BOD.
The Secretary attends and records all proceedings of the meetings of the BOD and members of the Club. He or she also maintains a register of the names and addresses of all Club members, in addition to other Club corporate records.
Road Captain is responsible for on-the-road safety, coordination and training of monthly and event Ride Captains, and performing other duties typical of this office.
Finally, with respect to the Officers, the Sergeant-at-Arms’ job is to ensure that the Club and its member adhere to the Bylaws, including maintaining order at meetings of the members.
SLMC also has three elected Directors—so with the President and Vice President, there are five Directors in total. The three Directors’ seats are: the “Sturgis Seat,” the “Arizona Seat,” and the “Daytona Seat.” These Directors each hold a respective three-year term, staggered with one coming up for election annually.

Aaron ‘Slider’ Rose
Joined SLMC back in 1994, shortly after engaging Professor Roger Haydock and his beautiful Harley Heritage Softail Classic in the William Mitchell College of Law parking lot. He has served on the Club’s Board and on several committees. While a licensed attorney, Aaron prefers the “business of law” and advises law firms, in-house legal departments, and organizations on how to maximize the value of their legal investments. When not riding (or sliding), you can find Aaron attending one of his three daughters’ countless events along with his wife, Andrea.

Chris ‘Klondike’ Brown
Klondike was SLMC’s first President In 1992, after responding to a classified ad placed in the local law school newspaper, soliciting persons interested in starting a lawyer’s motorcycle club. He has supported the Club in many ways throughout the years, coming full circle in 2024 to being again elected President. Klondike practices labor law and has represented public employee union members and unionized airline pilots.

Kathy Stewart

As a freelance court reporter, she loves participating in lively discussions surrounding legal issues and finds it great to share her perspective with the Road Lawyer members. SLMC has been a great networking group for her too! She’s ridden to Sturgis with the Club as well as given a CLE.

Alan ‘Flattop’ King
Has been a member of Street Legal since 2021, and has served as the Sergeant-at-Arms since 2023. That position suits him well as he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army, starting out as a private and rising to the rank of captain in the Engineer Corps (hence, the flat-top haircut, which he has diligently kept flat for over 30 years). When not riding, Alan defends individuals and businesses in civil litigation matters.
